PROUD (Parents Relatives & Others Understanding Downs) We wanted a place where, as parents, we could discuss the emotions that we went through after finding out that our daughter, Hannah, had Down's Syndrome. It was a relief for us to find that the intial feelings of shock and devastation that we went through were quite normal, and we weren't on our own.
Because we wanted to be able to share our realisation with others, we set up a support group. Our aim was to offer advice to parents, relatives and friends of children with Down's syndrome, as well as emotional and practical support. |
